TeamViewer- Remote Access

Did you ever want to access your files and applications from your home PC while you were out? Well now you can with a great software called TeamViewer. This software is the All-In-One for Remote Support and Online Meetings. You can have remote access to your home PC from anywhere. There is a smartphone application which allows you to control your computer from your phone and access any files or application. Also if any friends have any computer problems you can easily help them by accessing their computer through TeamViewer with their permission.

This is a very powerful application in terms of business meetings and online presentations. Companies can take advantage of this and host online presentations to display products and services that they are offering. Designated people can be invited to join these meetings to discuss business plans and also collaborate on different projects.

In terms of a marketing there is a lot of potential for businesses to setup a meeting through TeamViewer to explain their service or products that they offer remotely. Instead of taking time to travel to a meeting people can now log on to this application and join a meeting/interview and have networking opportunities. Businesses can also cut costs by conducting training online.

TeamViewer can make your life easier by allowing 24/7 access to remote computers and servers and also being able to access your office computer from home or vice versa. Being able to access your information at any location is very important in this fast paced world this application will save time and headache.

  1. Hi Baber,

This sounds like it comes in handy. I think it is great you could use this software for joining in meetings. It makes it easier when you are on the go.

I work in downtown Chicago and we have three locations so I am always back and forth which is good for fresh air and exercise but can use up a lot of time in the day which leaves me stuck working when I get home. We have tandberg at our company for video conferencing and we also use Microsoft Lync to share screens, etc.

I am going to ask around today about this software.

Very cool and thanks for sharing,
    Cari

  2. Hi, Baber:

This is wonderful news and will definitely come in handy for me. I've done many webinars and web conferences, but never knew the kind of software they were using.

I'm going to look into it to see if it's viable in my office environment. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

  3. Baber, how does this software compare to established remote PC applications like GoToMyPC, LogMeIn or PCNow?

  4. Baber,
Great info, I could have used this yesterday. I was at work and was trying to access some DePaul forms I had saved online for my AP! This is definitely a technology I will look into.
    Thanks!

  5. Hi Baber.

Sometimes technology can be a double-edged sword. We've been using multiple products for attending and hosting meetings over the 'net for over a decade at work. Folks can even join via an iPhone app these days. (Our current vendor is Webex.) Our overseas and remote office resources are able to get the same benefits from meetings as our home office folks. The downside is that many folks in the physical location join the meetings from their desks instead of coming to the conference room in person. More than once I've sat in a nearly empty conference room when I hear someone speaking on the phone "in stereo" when the door is open - they're just feet away!

Enabling remote access on any device (pc, phone, etc) always raises security concerns, and hackers are always looking to exploit vulnerabilities. I think options like Sky Drive (previously mentioned) might be safer unless you heavily lock down every other port, are always currently patched, and are extremely diligent about scanning for spyware, etc.
